The ancestor in my tree with this surname was Mary Ann Styles.  Her connection to my ex-husband is:

Mary Ann Styles was born about 1820, probably in Carlow, Ireland.

She married Andrew Marshall on 3 April 1848 in Carlow, Ireland. The marriage record lists her as Mary Ann Styles or Hayes, and her father’s name was James Styles. This indicates she was a widow, and her previous husband’s surname was Hayes.

Mary Ann and Andrew had 2 children

• Catherine Marshall 1850-1919
• Jane Marshall born 11 Apr 1852, christened 11 Jun 1852 in Dublin, Ireland.

Family records show Mary Ann died 1 August 1852 in Dublin, Ireland.

I have not been able to find a baptism record for Mary Ann Styles, or the marriage record for her previous marriage, so I haven’t been able to trace this line any further back.
